ocean breathes salty
listening to a really great cd, modest mouse's good news for people who love bad news. i bought it on a really fun day last fall, and every time i listen to it, i remember:
- wearing short sleeves and sunglasses until it was dark
- the joy of spending money like there was no tomorrow (and still having $ the next day!)
- spontaneously staying out late and walking home to my new house
- mushroom and smoked gouda soup with a crust of bread on the side
(oh, and besides the happy memories, it's also a really good album.)
right now, i'm working on a couple of projects that are going to involve a large amount of writing and then a large amount of public speaking. they have me wrapped up in knots.
'wrap' and 'knot' are two of my favourite words. i love them for their monosyllabic strength and their nonconformist spelling. i like their homonyms ('rap' and 'not') but they're not quite as fun, somehow...
hm. well, you can probably tell that i'm procrastinating. that whole werd-nerd business is a dead give away that i have work to do that is not getting done. also in the procrastinating vein, i also went for breakfast with ell, took a long bath, painted my nails, did my readings for the week, replied to a bunch of emails and made a bunch of phone calls. some of these things were at one point the subjects of procrastination of their very own, but they have moved up the list. funny how that happens - it's all about priorities.
no school for the boys tomorrow - dil is going to take them skating. i want to go skating too! alas, no skating for me. i'll be lucky if i can walk to school without falling down. wish me luck.
